BBThemeLab changed his name to mgdotnet for a few reasons. The most important one is that he wanted everything to be under his personal name. Matt Ginsberg is a developer, designer, and part (part) time blogger. Instead of having multiple entities, MattG decided to file everything under mgdotnet. In this day and age, its all about branding.
