Giveaway of the Week:

BlinkWhileCall

BlinkWhileCall

This week our bud Fabian Heuwieser stepped up to the plate again to offer one of his apps for free. Well, 25 copies that is. BlinkWhileCall is a small app that modifies your LED light to blink bright purple when you receive a call. This helps you notice an incoming call if you've got your device on silent... Sometimes the default LED notification is a little too dark for some to notice! The app installs with no hassle... once installed, you're good to go. No configuration needed... All you'll need to do is disable the repeat notification when an incoming call comes in (go to profiles > change active profile > disable blinking LED). Also of importance, this one works on the Storm series, Bold series, Curve series and Pearl Flip running OS 4.6+.

If you'd like to enter for your chance to win one of 25 free copies of BlinkWhileCall, answer the following question in the comments:

How many calls per day do you think BlinkWhileCall will keep you from missing?

Leave your answer in the comments now... Good luck!

Freebies of the Week:

Sid Meier's Pirates 'Lite'

Sid Meier's Pirates!

No joke, I used to play this game on my old Commodore 64. Was an awesome game, and still is. The good folks at Concrete Software have brought this classic title to the BlackBerry, and in their 'Lite' version you can play it for free. Granted, it's a demo so you'll get limited gameplay... But if you remember this game and want to give it a spin, there's no better way than with a free trial. Battle in hand-to-hand combat, fire cannon balls at enemy ships, and plunder their gold! Good times!

BatteryWatch

BatteryWatch

BatteryWatch is a very simple app from S4BB that lets you easily monitor/check the following details:

  • Battery Level
  • Battery Status
  • Battery Temperature
  • Battery Voltage
  • Device Name
  • Device PIN

No crazy requirements needed here... it should work just fine on all BlackBerry devices... as long as you're running OS 4.0 and higher... and yes, it should work just fine and dandy on the Storm series.

PayPal

PayPal for BlackBerry

Bring a whole lot of PayPal functionality to your BlackBerry device. Send money to friends, family or anyone else for that matter, providing they have a PayPal address.  There's even integration with your contact list to make sending the cash quick and easy. 23 currencies are supported, and you can use it to check your balance and account history. Not too much more to say about this one, if you're familiar with PayPal and use it a lot, this may be worth the install... Could make your life a little easier when sending out payments.

In Case You Missed It...

Just in case you missed these titles, below are some apps that were covered in the CrackBerry Blogs this past week. Check 'em out!

Viper SmartStart for BlackBerry

Well, it's here! Back in January we first got word that Viper SmartStart would be coming forward with a new app for BlackBerry. The app would allow you to start your car, turn your alarm on and off, and more. Some time has passed, and the whole 'system' is available for purchase, starting at a MSRP of $299. At launch, Viper SmartStart is compatible with the Bold 9700, Tour 9630, Curve 8900, the Storm2 9530, Storm2 9520, and Storm 9500.

VQ Mileage Tracker for BlackBerry

New from Xpressions Inc, VQ Mileage tracker is a new business app for BlackBerry that lets you (automatically) track your business mileage, time and dates. The app uses GPS in combination with Bluetooth to determine when you start and end your tip... And of course, it tracks you along the way. This is extremely handy if you need to put together monthly expense reports for your boss, or if you simply want to bill clients appropriately for time and distance traveled.

VQ Mileage Tracker is available now for $6.99, and a free trial is available. Check it out in our store.

If you're gearing up for that well deserved vacation, preparing for exams, or maybe you don't want to forget about that upcoming birthday... Count Down can help you out. All that is required here is OS 4.5+. Sorry, no Storm compatibility with this one.

iShoot

iShoot

Arriving in App World in late January, iShoot from Hands-On Mobile brings some classic 'Scorched Earth' style action to your BlackBerry. If you remember this old PC title, chances are you'll want to give this one a spin. The official description:

iShoot is an artillery combat game in which tanks blast each other with a wide range of high-powered weapons, from basic shells and cluster bombs to the world-destroying Shiva Bomb. Take aim against computer controlled opponents or hand off your phone with friends and play together. iShoot s constantly changing gameplay and multiplayer features will keep you playing for hours!

Granted, the pricing on this title is a little high at $6.99... But if you're into classic games, and Scorched Earth was one of your favorites... You may get your moneys worth.
